Patrick B. Whalen

Patrick is an entrepreneur, small business owner, and experienced academic administrator at the secondary and post-secondary levels. He served for over a decade in the United States Marine Corps where he deployed multiple times and served in a variety of leadership roles. He has extensive educational experience as a teacher, head of school, and school founder, and served as an assistant to the President of Hillsdale College. His educational initiatives include founding and leading St. Martin’s Academy, a farm-based boarding school, as well as Iliad Athletics, providing curricula and training in fitness, outdoorsmanship, and character development. Patrick has a B.A. from the University of Michigan, and a M.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. His essays and poetry have appeared or are forthcoming in a variety of journals including the Marine Corps Gazette, Michigan Quarterly Review, Arion: A Journal of Humanities and the Classics, The New Criterion, and Touchstone.
